Sterility mosaic
This is a viral disease. The infected plant develops large, light green, small
leaves. It does not develop a Flowering. The disease is spread by the invisible
Eriophid mite Asaria kazani.
This pest was observed mainly in the rainfed light land areas of Prakasam and
Rayalaseema districts.
Therefore, as part of preventive measures, spray two times at an interval of ten
days, mixing 3 g of water-soluble sulfur powder or 4 ml of Kerathane per liter
of water, within 60 to 90 days of sowing to prevent blackleg.
Varieties that are somewhat resistant to this pest include ICPL 87119, BSM R
853, BSM R 736 and LRG 105 (Krishna).
